Emoticons are little faces, usually yellow color but it can also be any other color, and they represent some specific emotion, like happiness, sadness, anger, etc. We can differentiate two types of emoticons, textual emoticons and graphic emoticons. Textual emoticons can be used almost everywhere where we can type text and graphic ones can be used only on platforms which support graphic emoticons, like for example Facebook chat.

We have mentioned emoticons in Facebook chat. They are called Facebook Emoticons. Just like Similarly there are MSN emoticons in MSN Messanger, Skype emoticons in Skype and you can imagine the rest. While some platforms support only limited amount of emoticons there are also platforms which support adding custom emoticons, for example previously mentioned MSN Messenger. There is also a trick to add custom emoticons to Facebook but you can read about it in our future blog posts.
